Just got word in the form of a neatly typed and stamped paper. My request for recontract has been accepted, and so I'm here in Japan for another year.
OK OK, so recontracting, unless you're a total fuck up, or did some bad shit, is pretty much guaranteed. But it's another weight off of my shoulders. My income is secure for the next 18 months or so, perhaps longer if/when I recontract again. While nothing in life is certain, I think I can be confident that at least my JET job is reliable. If nothing else, 20 years of the JET Programme has resulted in exactly NO increases in salary.
Lol, no bitching from me, other than the vague sense of dim outrage at this percieved injustice. For me, JET life is a sweet ride.
